The Dolby multichannel amplifier CID1001 provides manual configuration of Dolby Atmos Connect parameters (ip, ptp, source port ..). There are no difficulties with setting up a typical configuration (video server > Dolby CP950 > Dolby CID1001) due to the fact that all parameters are specified by default.
The Dolby CP950 > DMX208A configuration works correctly with the following settings:
We configure Dolby CP950 in advanced mode.
Using Rav2Sap, we create a SAP announce packet using the [SDP] button.
After these actions, we see the created SAP in DigisynLink3. We assign the desired routing, after which the DMX208A correctly reproduces the multicast stream from Dolby CP950.
Here we encountered a limitation (apparently software) – the module receives a stream only from port 5004, and ignores others. Such a limitation does not allow building a system with more than 8 channels with Dolby CP950, since here the division of channel groups (1-8, 9-16, 17-24 …) occurs using the port number (6518, 6519, 6520 …).
As we wrote earlier, we see the following solutions to the problem:
- Allow using ports for transmitting and receiving a multicast stream from the range 6515 … 6599 (officially not reserved).
- Allow using any ports for receiving a multicast stream, except for those used for configuration.
